Pacemakers are lifesaving devices that are implanted inside the chests of patients with a number of heart related ailments. Their job is to keep the heart beating at a steady pace when the patients own body can’t. However, pacemakers require a battery to work, which means patients require another operation to replace the battery after about five to ten years.
