In a move that should have taken place a long time ago, the Veteran’s Association is teaming up with the US Department of Labor to create a new program for retraining the country’s veterans.
According to reports, the program itself is designed to offer up to an Associate’s degree for those who have served in the military, and are between the ages of 35-60. They are also providing work specific funding for certificates and training. For example, you could use allotted funds to study for and pay the exams of different certifications related to a single industry.
Technically, the program began taking applications back in May. But the first wave of applicants are now set to go through, with more than 27,000 already approved. There are 99,000 slots for the initial stage of the program. If successful, it could see another set of approved slots opening.
