Eastern Michigan University Warns President About Alcohol Use

The board of regents for Eastern Michigan University have told the school’s president, Susan Martin, to control her alcohol consumption or she could face losing her job. The board also called Martin’s outburst at a recent event inappropriate in a letter they wrote to her. A number of other incidents related to alcohol consumption were also cited in the letter.

The letter was signed by the three board executives, Mike Morris, Roy Wilbanks and Francine Parker. A part of it read; “You must deal with this issue immediately. If there are any further incidents, you will leave us no alternative but to recommend to the Board that your employment be terminated for just cause …” [Read more...]

Eastern Michigan University Completes Capital Campaign Early

Eastern Michigan University started its first capital campaign in April 2006, with a goal of raising $50 million by April 2013. They have however managed to reach their target already and now plan to finish the campaign in June this year. The campaign went public in 2010, after four years of running privately. Robert Slater, former captain of the schools football team, is the chairman of the campaign. He has also served as the secretary of transport in the past. [Read more...]

Two Eastern Michigan University Students Accused of Identity Theft

Two student employees from Eastern Michigan University have been brought up on charges relating to the theft of about 58 student identities including, Social Security Numbers, dates of birth and names. They then used this stolen information to file false IRS tax returns. The victims learned of the crimes when they themselves filed tax returns, only to find they had been rejected due to their details being already filed. [Read more...]
