Cornell University was established after the American Civil War to cater for the education needs of all races and cultures. Moving in the future, Cornell University launched its eCornell online programs to cater for prospective students who have work and family commitments that prevent them from attending traditional on-campus classes. eCornell offers online programs that include:

eCornell offers students the chance to design their own study plan and classes through being flexible. Students are able to study when they want and where they want, depending on their needs. The courses are designed for professionals to further their careers in their field. Various media formats are used to teach students, such as video tapes, CD-ROMs and other multimedia types. Students are able to speak to instructors via email or phone.
Tuition fees for eCornell vary depending on the course program undertaken. No financial aid is available, but eCornell offers various payment plans for students who can’t afford to pay upfront. Work/study reimbursements are possible to those who are eligible.
